    Electronic IDs are simple and convenient IDs used in the electronic world. You can get electronic IDs by phone, on a card connected to a computer, and in the ID app.


    Identifying yourself with an electronic identity card is equivalent to presenting an identity card. An electronic ID can be used for a valid signature and is equivalent to your signature.

    If you plan to provide electronic IDs on a phone, check if your phone card supports electronic IDs.


    If you can not get a SIM card that supports electronic IDs you must go to some electronic communications company, bank, or Auðkenni and receive an electronic IDs there.


     When applying for an electronic identity card, you must always bring a valid driver's license, passport or, Icelandic identity card with a photo.
